Neaum Crag Estate

The Neaum Crag Estate is set in 18 acres of enchanting woodland on the south-facing hillside above Skelwith Bridge, close to the neighbouring villages of Ambleside, Coniston and the Langdale Valley. Our unique location in the Lake District National Park is known as a walkers’ paradise, offering walking routes in all directions from its doorstep.

There are off-road and road cycling routes nearby and also good climbing opportunities in the Langdale Valley and the Coniston quarries. Water sports and activities can be enjoyed on Coniston Water and there are also outdoor swimming opportunities locally. Neaum Crag’s central location makes the tourist attractions of the Lake District easily accessible.

The Lodges

The majority of the properties on the Neaum Crag Estate are wooden holiday lodges, nestled within the Estate woodland. Each lodge is owned freehold and stands within its own grounds, with individual dedicated parking space. Opening periods vary according to property, although all the lodges are closed for the winter during January and February. Every lodge has a unique character, position and outlook. There are wonderful views over the Langdale Valley and a variety of wildlife can be seen in the woodland all across the Estate; including red squirrels, deer and many species of birds.

The Apartments

The Neaum Crag Court Apartments sit within their own grounds and are situated in a delightful position towards the top the Neaum Crag Estate, overlooking a small tarn which is also home to a family of friendly ducks. The apartments are contained within the main Neaum Crag Estate and enjoy the benefit of the Estate and its facilities. Each of the sixteen apartments has its own dedicated car parking space nearby.

Wildlife can often be seen around the apartments; including a variety of bird species and the occasional red squirrel. There are lovely views down the Langdale Valley and dramatic Fell views can be enjoyed from the balconies and patios.

Exploring on Foot

A public footpath runs from the Western end of the Pool Hall Building (Estate Office) down between the steeply pitched roof chalets to Skelwith Bridge. At Skelwith Bridge is a hotel, pub and Chesters Café by the river. A pleasant ambling path follows the river up to Elterwater itself and to Elterwater village.

Up the hill from the pool hall the public footpath runs up the steep one-way hill and on up the drive to the large overflow car park at the top of the estate. It then follows the same line up through the larch plantation to exit our land through a gate in the wall. Loughrigg Tarn and Loughrigg Fell can be seen to the right from this point. Lovely views of the Langdale Valley can also be enjoyed from the top of the small hill (Neaum Crag itself) to the left.
